In January 2018 our company modernized an AMN Technologies plasma cutting machine. The wiring, CNC controller and THC were replaced, and Plasmicon PlasmaNest and PlasmaPost were installed instead of the previously used SheetCam TNG and Tehtran.
Using the Plasmicon postprocessor significantly increased consumable life and improved cut quality. The entry threshold for operators became much lower. Now any employee can be trained to cut on the machine within a few hours.
PlasmaNest helped reduce administrative effort for nesting preparation. Cutting maps are now prepared by the operator on site without engineering department involvement. The template library integrated into PlasmaNest is especially useful.
As a result, the modernization paid for itself in the first days of operation.
